They *should* copy/paste fine.A better question, then, would be what version of Corel are we talking? It comes to my mind that different versions handled copy/paste/paste special differently. It will just dump the package of numbers in there and go about its way.Uh, in this instance CMX are also native Corel Draw files, *created by and supported by Corel*. You will never know if it errors by doing a copy/paste. When you import it allows Corel or whatever program to make sense of the image and put it into a form it can use or error out telling you why it won’t work. Images don’t like that done to them at all.If you use the Import option, you will have much better results. All it does is saves a bunch of numbers and then drops them into the other program.

I have not encountered a problem.I am running Windows XP Pro with 1 Gig of ram, a lot of hard drive space, and CorelDraw12. I exclusively use CMX files because they give the best interchange between these differing machines. I am using Corel 10 both on the mac and wintel. I just tried it to be sure.I am using version 10 and doing the coping and pasting out of thumbs plus.Ditto. Cmx file as vectors instantly, without having to go to Paste Special.

If I Linked one object into the design and then duplicated the link 50 times then when changes are needed I need to change only one file and Ta-Da all 50 instances get change and life is good.Maybe Corel will crank up its Linux development again.We can only hope! I’m becoming *very* fond of the SimplyMepis distribution and I would *love* to have a recent Corel version to use with it :)I’m not familiar with ThumbsPlus’s method of copying/pasting… it’s entirely possible that what you’re copying when you do that from that program is not the file itself, *but the bitmap thumbnail preview image only*, which is what gets pasted into Corel. Invariably there are some last minute tweaks to the design. I have a board with 50 repetitions of the same design. Freezes up, can not save files, will not print, get Server Busy messages with no option to Cancel, just Switch or Retry.Is this a known problem with CorelDraw or is it something on my machine/configuration?First question: Have you updated your Corel install by downloading its SP1?Second question: Instead of embedding, why not simply import the files into your “parent” file?The few times I’ve tried to use OLE for whatever reason in the distant past on older machines- and not necessarily in Corel - have been problematic for me (crashing or failure to open the parent application) so I can’t say that it’s either Corel or your machine Windows certainly has enough quirks on its own to create trouble like this.Can not remember on this machine if I put SP1 on – I will give that a shot.My understanding is that Import will not create a dynamic link. I am doing this while no other application is running.Corel keeps upchucking on me.
